That’s what these past months have been. My great grandfather’s 100th birthday was pretty awesome, by the way.

Product testing. That’s what I’m doing right now.

I filled out a form at Seventeen.com and got a package full of stuff, 11 in total! Yes, I do go on seventeen to win prizes and check out their college info. Their ‘freshman 15′ is an awesome idea and I like reading their blogs.

ANYWAY, I’ve already been using some of the products that I would have to wait for true, not initial, results for but I left all the makeup stuff for today.  XP Not exactly a fan of make-up but there’s some interesting stuff even though I would probably not use some of it regularly. In total there are about 5 that were pleasant surprises and 2-3 that completely won me over! The rest I’m more like “This would be nice for so & so!” but that would have to do with my lack of severe girlishness.

All in all, it’s a lot of fun to try these products that aren’t out yet or just came out very recently(I didn’t find them but maybe they are). Maybe I could do it for a living? Lol.

I got a funny story out of it though. You see, you have to print out an admission ticket beforehand and whatnot so I decided to go to the library the day before it to print it out. I’m pretty much way beyond freaking out since like…Monday so that Friday was pretty memorable. ANYWAY, I go ask them if I need to sign in or something because I’ve never used the computers in that library and every other computer library I’ve had gone to years ago, you just needed to sign your name on a sheet…but I digress. Me, somewhat of a computer guru, web designer, digital artist and web surfer extraordinaire was pretty much like a 90 year old technology challenged woman that day. You see…I forgot EVERYTHING and I think it was because I was trying to only remember SAT related things. So I sit there not remembering my pin, my password, looking for my library card,etc. for like 30 mins, sweating from anxiety and their heat is like a sauna, as the teenage boy next to me seemed to be amused and the woman on my other side seemed a little worried about me.  Lo and behold, I remember the pass, go to print and freeze. Should I click print before paying at the machine(they use this weird coin operated thing I’ve never used before), should I click print then run to the machine, should I wait and see if someone’s done printing???? So the guy that was supposed to help had gone off to help someone else(see lost password & mental breakdown above), the lady next to me must have seen the panic and despair in my eyes as she asked me if I needed help. This is when I’m given a step by step on how to print(how fun, right?) as I felt relieved and embarrassed as if I had forgotten to tie my shoes. At least I think my shoes were tied…

Then the guy takes over and shows me how easy it is to click a button, pay, then click another button. Done, now where do I get my paper? He points and says “the second printer” to which I look at the printer in front of me and he repeats “the second printer” and I’m like “oh” and proceed to the first one I saw because apparently I’m too short to see the other printer AND I see things backwards(first/last last/first). You know, just in case I don’t look like a bumbling idiot already. So I locate the correct printer and I’m done, right? Now I have to find my mother that has walked off somewhere, probably hiding in shame. I cross aisles as more than 5 people look at me strangely. Great not only am I technology challenged, I seem to not remember where the exit is and possibly how doors work. I’m pretty sure that’s what they were thinking. I wouldn’t doubt they had someone on speed dial for this. Finally, I spot my mother. She ribs me about my crazy lack of computer skillage I showcased “Oh My God, for someone who barely goes to sleep for being on the computer…” Yes, my mom the one I have to remind how some things work on the computer is raggin’ on me…and she’s RIGHT! After I’m out of there, I relay everything that happened in between hysterical laughter to her. 8D THE END.

The library will never be the same.

I haven’t been uploading drawings  at all(not even on DA) because I’m so stressed out over portfolio drawings and college applications. I’m a first generation college goer and applying at the same time as my eldest niece(unintentionally) so it’s kind of a mess. I’ve always wanted to go to an art college but thought I’d better hone my skills first, then it got to the point where I figured I should just go on my own with freelancing since I’m too ‘old’ (just turned 22 on the 21st but I’m an old soul). Now I’m really looking forward to it and I feel I can do this now. I just wasn’t ready before.

15-20 portfolio pieces and I have one down! Lol. I’ll be using some of my digital work to balance it out as my foray into traditional work is lacking. Although, it is better than I thought it would be. I had visions of pre-school finger art I made but I impressed myself, really.

So…these days have been pretty much like this:

Get up, do the game job, look through my 10+ daily e-mails about sweepstakes, enter new ones, search(using swagbucks) college info, drawing tutorial/tips, figure out what to draw, study for the SAT(math sucks) online, study for the SAT by books, spend a few minutes to wrap my head around all this, freak out when I can’t, search for near art classes in vain, look at application requirements and stress out, take a shower where I keep freaking out and stressing, go to bed. I take time to eat somewhere in between those.

These were all done this year, the last one being in the beginning of the year and the first two being about…this month or last. The stars WIP has some calligraphy testing on it.

Old:

The first two were during my anime ref-ing days trying to transition into cartooning, I was about 15(Yeah I know I suck at anime). The woman and dragon were around the same week between each other and according to the date I was 13 and a half. I was inspired by covers of fantasy books I was reading at the time. The second to last one is a good example of how much I’ve progressed, it was during my teen years too. It’s a little mind boggling how some styles looked good and others looked like a 5 year old drew them. That last one was when I thought I was a big mean graffiti artist. Obviously not.

I have a better drawing of that first one (Risky & Safety) but they were some of the ones that didn’t fit. Ah well.

Not much sketches only sketchy writings right now, I’ll fix that soon.

If I’m not sick by the time the blood drive comes around, I’ll still most likely not be able to donate. Apparently, my weight is too low to donate blood. I’m not sure why that’s a rule…it probably takes longer to replete? Anyway, 110 is a little out of reach for my short height unless of course I gain muscle like a madwoman(female Schwarzenegger, anyone?). It’s unlikely I will with this sickness bogging me down.

I’m trying to think of what else I wanted to say…

Oh! I need to scan some works I made in acrylic while my net was down. It was nice working with paint again. I need to get some thicker paper than my sketchbook has though, the papers get all crumpled from liquid. Not that I paint regularly anyway.

Back to bed. It seems sleeping is so draining.
